Anna Paquin

Anna Paquin, a Canadian-New Zealander actress. Paquin was born in Winnipeg and was raised by Wellington Paquin's mother, made her acting debut as Flora McGrath. For this part, she was awarded an Academy Award of Best Supporting Actress in the romantic comedy The Piano at the young age of 11. She is the second youngest recipient in Oscar history. In response to an audition Flora McGrath was cast as the daughter a Scottish piano player. Flora McGrath is the daughter of a muted Scottish musician, who emigrated from Scotland to New Zealand to marry in the 19th century. The actress moved to the United States as a teen. Paquin was Jane Eyre's main character when she was an teen in Franco Zeffirelli's Jane Eyre (2000) as well as the main role in Fly Away Home (2000). Paquin played Frankie Addams as a child in the TV adaptation of Carson McCullers novel The Member of the Wedding. Paquin played the queen of Spain in Steven Spielberg's 1997 movie Amistad. She portrayed teens on the screen in Hurlyburly (1998), She's All That (1998), A Walk on the Moon (1998) and Almost Famous (2000). In addition, she portrayed the groupie Polexia Aphrodisa.
